Brief

US-based Intermap Technologies is a leading digital mapping company creating uniform high-resolution 3D digital models of the earth’s surface.  With an overarching business objective to aggressively build market share across Europe over the forthcoming 12 months, Say Communications was appointed to place geographic information systems (GIS) mapping firmly on the radar of all key trade and vertical sector press within the UK and Germany.  Say already had seven years of GIS experience under its belt having worked with the GIS and business intelligence vendor Pitney Bowes MapInfo.  Say was able to hit the ground running.

Say’s mission was to develop and deploy a robust and innovative programme for the UK and Germany that strived to inform, educate and influence purchasing decisions.  To do this, Say identified and started to build upon sector specific issues where Intermap could provide thought-provoking insights.

To prevent competitors stealing the march, Say had to aggressively build awareness within the target audiences. Say worked to raise Intermap’s profile as a market leader in affordable, accurate 3D mapping and geospatial solutions. By taking an advisory and educational stance, Say collaborated with its German partner agency to hit every tier-one IT, GIS, automotive and public sector title in both markets.

Result

This 12-month trade campaign exceeded ambitious targets, generating a total of 440 pieces of coverage and averaging 35 publications per month, from a variety of online news sites, portals, newspapers and magazines, primarily within the GIS press in the UK and German media.

UK offline coverage reached over 345,000 people, representing an advertising value equivalent of £58,000.
