Management Team of the Year announced at pharmaceutical industry’s Scrip Awards ceremony 2010
8 November 2010
RSA, the global life sciences executive search and interim management specialist, has, for the sixth year running, sponsored the Management Team of the Year category at this year’s annual Scrip Awards Ceremony. The award was won by the Executive Leadership Team at Abbott, the broad-based health care company devoted to discovering new medicines, new technologies and new ways to manage health.
Scrip World Pharmaceutical News hosted the event at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Thursday evening. The awards aimed to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of pharma and biotech in what has been another challenging year for the industry.
The Management Team of the Year award is open to teams across all levels of business from top tier to operations as well as internal projects, with the judges looking for strong performance over a number of important criteria.
Out of the four companies shortlisted, the eight-strong Executive Leadership Team at Abbott was chosen due to their clear strategic goals and consequent execution. Headed by CEO Miles D White, the team has worked tirelessly over the last ten years to transform the company, with a particular focus on the developing markets. In the past year alone, the team completed the major acquisition of Solvay, expanding its global reach and adding nearly $3 billion in total annual sales.
The Scrip Awards are voted for by a panel of esteemed judges from the pharmaceutical industry worldwide. Other companies shortlisted for this award included Astellas, PanGenetics and ThromboGenetics.
“The Scrip Awards are an integral part of the pharmaceutical industry’s year and we are delighted to have been given the opportunity to provide ongoing support for the sixth year in a row, particularly in the recognition of outstanding management capabilities,” commented Nick Stephens, CEO of RSA. “The Abbott team are well deserved recipients of the award this year given their unwavering commitment as a team, to bringing in new business and building their global infrastructure with clearly visible results.”
