Junk the emails and pen a festive letter! by Santa Claus

Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas one and all. ‘Tis the season when many of your letters arrive at my door. Recently I received a wish list from someone at Say. Normally a wish list is secret, sshhh, but I’ve got permission to say this time. I’ve been asked to Santa using an ipad festive letterwrite a festive blog on a hot communications topic. It’s taken me a while but after a glass of sherry and a mince pie my idea has arrived, not in a reindeer sleigh mind you!

Throughout my career I’ve received many wonderful letters, and some
incredibly long lists. The North Pole Post Office sorts millions, for me, each year. They hire extra elves at peak times; ensure that every letter is read and that all the presents are carefully wrapped. A lot of careful preparation has to happen before I can consider shaking the reins and letting Dasher, Dancer and the others whizz into the night sky.

Your letters are a wonderful display of thought and handwriting. The time it must take you to write proves your care and attention to detail (not everyone keeps between the lines though!)  Mrs Claus, the elves, reindeer and I love the sacks full of your letters that arrive daily. But the digital revolution is causing us loads of problems. It is too easy to fire off an excitable email or a tactless twpost box snow festive lettereet. Your lovely letters ooze with thoughtfulness but it simply isn’t the same in an email or tweet. These aren’t, however, my only problems with digital.

Reduced letter turnover means the North Pole Post Office has had a terrible time with serious budget cuts. The sad result is that many elves have lost their jobs. Our Santa server is creaking and I simply can’t find elves with digital skills to sort all of your messages.

So my festive wish this Christmas?  Bring back the tradition of writing festive letters! Next year when you need to make an impact consider a letter as a powerful way to deliver a personalised message.

Now I’ve had my Say I’ve got to feed the reindeer, so you make sure you have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Santa Claus founded North Pole Enterprises many, many years ago and is well respected and loved by not only his elf employees but by people all over the world. He was involved in the creation of the “Naughty or Nice” criteria and is a pioneer of Christmas Cheer. His main skills are in chimney hopping and sleigh driving, holding the Guinness World Record for fastest time around the world on Reindeer-power. Last year he also won a notorious mince pie eating competition, easily beating the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.
